Update without tear-out
Kitchens in older ranch and bi-level homes often have laminate or tile counters from decades ago. Replacing them with stone means demolition, templating, fabrication and weeks of disruption. Epoxy countertops are poured right over the existing surface, usually in two to three days, giving you a seamless, glossy top in nearly any style.
Styles
- Marble: white or cream with soft veining.
- Granite: layered, speckled stone looks.
- Metallic: pearlescent swirls in silver, gold, copper or bronze.
- Solid colors: white, black, gray or custom.
- Clear over wood: protection for butcher block and live-edge slabs.
The process
We protect cabinets, floors and appliances. The existing surface is sanded, repaired and primed; tile grout lines are filled. A base color goes on, followed by the design pour with veining or effects worked by hand. A clear flood coat finishes the surface and edges, and a topcoat adds scratch resistance.
Basement bars
Finished basements with wet bars are popular here, and an epoxy bar top is a showpiece. Metallic finishes in black and gold or copper look striking under pendant lights. We can embed bottle caps, coins or memorabilia in clear layers.
Durability
Epoxy is waterproof and seamless. It resists most stains and is easy to clean. Use cutting boards and trivets, since knives scratch and very hot pans can mark resin.
Dry climate tip
Low indoor humidity in winter is fine for cured epoxy, but during installation we control room temperature carefully, since cold rooms slow curing and affect flow. We may run heaters to keep conditions steady.
Other surfaces
Bathroom vanities, laundry counters, garage workbenches, outdoor kitchen tops under cover and commercial bar tops are all good candidates.
Care
Wipe with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads. Light scratches can be buffed out, and a topcoat refresh restores gloss later.

Is epoxy right for you?
Epoxy counters suit homeowners who want a dramatic, seamless look on a modest budget and who are comfortable using trivets and cutting boards. They are a great way to update a rental, refresh a kitchen before selling or create a showpiece basement bar. They are less ideal for cooks who routinely set hot cast iron directly on the counter. We are happy to talk through the pros and cons honestly so you can decide.
Preparing your kitchen
Before the pour, clear counters and upper shelves and plan for a couple of days of takeout. Sinks usually stay in place and are masked carefully; cooktops may be lifted out and reset. We ventilate the work area, keep pets out and leave everything clean. After curing, we walk through care instructions with you and leave a short written guide for the household. Most clients are surprised at how little disruption the project causes compared with a full countertop replacement.
Matching floors and counters
Some basement projects pair a metallic bar top with a metallic floor in complementary tones. Coordinating colors and pigments ties the room together. We plan both pours at once so finishes match, and we can schedule them back to back to keep the project short.
We photograph your existing counters during the estimate and can show similar finished projects so you know what to expect from the final look.
